# Provider\_Only Installation

This installation enables you to run a provider without installing ACRON fully.

The following steps are required:

* Copy the content of the `Provider_Only` folder from the ACRON CD to any folder on the target computer and run the two runtime installations `vcredist_x86_x.exe`.

or run `setup.exe` in this folder.
* Adapt the plant name and address in the `PlantReferences.DEF` file.
* Adapt the parameter for starting the provider as a service or application in the `StartProvider.bat` file.

The [plant identification](/acron-9.3/en/anlagenverwaltung/anlagenid.md#identifikation) and [provider identification](/acron-9.3/en/anlagenkonfiguration/prozessanbindung/provider/providerid.md#identifikation) (provider number) define the plant for which the provider is to be used and its provider configuration.

[Server address](/acron-9.3/en/anlagenverwaltung/register-allgemein.md#adresse-port) and [Port number](/acron-9.3/en/anlagenverwaltung/register-allgemein.md#adresse-port) refer to the computer on which the ACRON Database Server is running.

The provider is started, or installed as a service, either

* by executing the customized .bat file, or
* by executing the command line prompt, or
* by running the customized shortcut in the start menu.
