# Availability of compression methods

Additional explanatory notes on the table:

For calculation variables, the columns represent the preset [calculation result](/acron-9.3/en/anlagenkonfiguration/verfahrensgroessen/rechengroesse/register_allgemein.md#berechnungsergebnis).

Compression methods can of course only be selected if the [calculation basis](/acron-9.3/en/anlagenkonfiguration/verfahrensgroessen/rechengroesse/register_allgemein.md#berechnungsbasis) is below the calculation result. That is to say, for calculation variables with Day as their calculation result compression methods can only be selected if the calculation bases are process or interval values.

If compression methods are not available for every possible calculation basis, this is supplemented by indexes.
