# Configuration

### Network

The configured IP address is saved by clicking “Save” in the line. The address only becomes effective once the device has been restarted, which can take a few minutes.

| Property   | Description                                                                        |
| ---------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| IP         | A unique address on the Internet for identifying devices.                          |
| Subnetmask | A mask that defines which partial address of an IP address identifies the network. |

The IP address is to configure via web interface. Via the "open" button you are forwarded to the respective view, you may have to log in first.

### Operating mode

The operating mode define the mode of operation of the device. It is possible to choose between the following modes:

| Mode         | Description                                                                                                                                                                |
| ------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| SMS          | Enables the sending of SMS.                                                                                                                                                |
| SMS & E-Mail | Enables sending SMS and e-mails. In this mode the MOBILE interface of the device must be configured for network access. The PIN code is no longer managed by the Edge AIP. |

### SMS

Configure the PIN code to enable access to the SIM card.

#### PIN

The field is used to change the PIN. The modem must be restarted for the change to take effect. If the PIN was previously determined to be correct, it can no longer be changed. If you want to change the PIN unplugged the SIM card and restart the modem.

If the PIN has been transmitted incorrectly several times and the number of possible PIN entries has fallen to 1, no PIN is entered automatically to avoid entering the PUK. In this case, "Force input" must be pressed manually to use the specified PIN. This behavior is only supported in SMS operating mode.

If the PIN was entered incorrectly and it is necessary to enter the PUK, the SIM card must be unplugged of the device. It is not possible to enter the PUK via the Edge AIP.

In addition it should be noted that sending SMS messages may incur costs.

### SMTP-Server

| Property    | Description                                                                                            |

| Port        | Port of the server                                                                                     |
| Displayname | <p>The displayed name which the e-mail will be sent.</p><p>(Can be chosen arbitrarily)</p>             |
| Username    | Username to log in to the SMTP server                                                                  |
| Password    | Valid password for the username                                                                        |
| Encryption  | <p>Defines the type of transport encryption</p><ul><li>None</li><li>SSL/TLS</li><li>StartTLS</li></ul> |

### Log Messages

Extended log messages provide additional runtime context and support the analysis of errors and unexpected behavior. By capturing relevant information such as internal states, passed parameters, and execution details, issues can be identified more quickly and resolved more efficiently. Extended logging enables detailed recording of individual process steps, system responses, and decision paths, significantly simplifying root cause analysis. This not only improves traceability for development and support but also increases transparency during testing, maintenance, and the operation of complex processes.
