# Authentication Concept

The authentication concept is based on the OAuth standard. To receive return values from the JUNE5 Web API, a user must authenticate first, otherwise they will not receive the requested data.

Upon successful login via the Web API, the requester receives a token. This token must be independently maintained by the requesting client application and communicated to the server with each request. The JUNE5 server checks the validity of the token with each request.

A token has a preset lifetime of 15 minutes. If the token is not used for more than this duration for server communication, it expires. This requires a repeated login to the server for subsequent communication.

Please note:

* The token must be transmitted in the "June5-Token" field in the header of each subsequent HTTP request to the server.
