# Line Chart (Column, Bar, Points etc.)

The description for creating, deleting, and editing the line chart can be found in the chapter [Diagrams](/june5-3.7/en/webanwendung/sichten/diagramme.md).

## Setting Options for Measurement Variable

These settings are available via the auxiliary button of the respective measurement variable. The relevant measurement variables are listed in the list view under the heading *Selected*.

* Marker

o Marker Size

o Marker Type

* Y-Axis

o Position Axis on the Right

o Automatic Y-Axis Scaling

o Show Axis Labels

* Show Limit Values (upper, lower)
* Z-Index (Changes the order of measurement variables in the diagram - the higher the value, the closer to the viewer)
* Stacked

o Automatic Y-Axis Scaling

* Min Y-Axis
* Max Y-Axis

## Properties

These settings can be found in the [Properties window](/june5-3.7/en/webanwendung/sichten/oberflaeche-und-handling.md).

* Start Database
* Select Event Data Source
* Event Filter
* Legend (Hide or Change Position: left, top, right, bottom)
* Event Font Size
* Show or Hide Tooltip.
* Start Online (Starts the diagram in online mode automatically after retrieval)
* Online Time in Minutes (Determines the time range of the online diagram. The maximum value here is 1439 minutes. This corresponds to exactly 23 hours and 59 minutes)
* Type (Determines the diagram type)
* Stacked (The series are displayed stacked according to the diagram type)
* Automatic Y-Axis Scaling Stacked (Only when Stacked is enabled, for shared Y-axes, scaling is determined. Automatically or with manual min and max value input)
* Hide Grid Lines: Shows or hides the horizontal grid lines
* Reduced Display (Shows or hides axis labels and legends)
* Widget Border Color (*only in Dashboard possible!*)
* Widget Border Width (*only in Dashboard possible!*)

## Ad Hoc Settings

These settings are located on the vertical toolbar. The vertical toolbar is positioned on the left side of the object. The buttons on the vertical toolbar are disabled when the Properties window is opened!

* Refresh *(loads newly occurred values from the data source).*
* Database *(opens a dialog in which the data source for all measurement variables can be changed. For example, it is possible to switch between daily or weekly data in the value display).*
* Set Time *(opens a modal window in which the time point/range can be adjusted).*
* Previous Time Interval
* Next Time Interval
* CSV Export (See chapter [Data Export as CSV](/june5-3.7/en/webanwendung/sichten/datenexport-als-csv.md))
* Current Control (Determines the function type of the mouse pointer. For example: Standard, Pan, or Zoom).
* Line Type
* Rulers (Two rulers are available)
* Display (Determines the display of the object in combination with the value table)
* Real-Time Data (Start/Stop online mode. Min. 0 minutes, max. 23 hours and 59 minutes can be set).

## Display

The display of a line chart is done via measurement variables. Select measurement variables from the object list (using the selection button or drag and drop) (See: [Selection and Deselection of Objects](/june5-3.7/en/webanwendung/listenansicht/an-und-abwahl-von-objekten.md)). A description with the information "measurement variable, timestamp, and absolute value" is displayed when the mouse pointer is held over a line.

## Printing

Printing is described in the chapter [Print](/june5-3.7/en/webanwendung/sichten/drucken.md).

## Display of Events in a Line Chart

Once a line chart is completed, events that occurred in the same time period can also be displayed. To do this, entries such as *Pre-filter* and *Event Data Source* must be configured. These can be found in the Properties window.

After the *Refresh* button is pressed, the events are displayed in the diagram.

Each event flag has a tooltip. This appears when the mouse pointer is held over the desired event.

### Selection of Event Data Source

The selection of the event data source can be configured in the *Properties window*, under the entry *Select Event Data Source*. Additionally, a *SQL command* can be entered to restrict the result set to the corresponding data source. Please note that this is only possible for data sources of the type *OLE DB*.

### Event Filter

A *Pre-filter* can be configured in the Properties window. This can be accessed via the *Properties* button in the upper right corner of the screen. The filter criteria can be found in the chapter [Advanced Filter](/june5-3.7/en/webanwendung/erweiterter-filter.md). The *Pre-filter* is only executed after clicking the *Apply* button.

## Zooming

Zooming works differently depending on the device. The control type must first be changed to zoom. To do this, click on the button labeled *Control* in the toolbar.

If the device is a desktop PC, click on the diagram area with the left mouse button and hold it while moving the mouse to draw a blue rectangle (zoom area). Once the mouse button is released, the corresponding measurement values are reloaded from the server and then displayed.

If the device is equipped with a touchscreen, the zoom area is marked via the *Pinch-To-Zoom* mode. This is done by spreading two fingers on the diagram area.

In both variants, immediately after zooming, the *Reset Zoom* button appears in the toolbar. By pressing this button, the zoom factor is reset to one.

## Online Mode

The use of online mode is described in the chapter [Online Mode](/june5-3.7/en/webanwendung/sichten/online-modus.md).

## Rulers

With JUNE5, it is possible to show and hide up to two screen rulers in the line chart.

The intersection points of these rulers with each individual diagram line are displayed in table form in the lower part of the diagram with the same color as the diagram line.

Show and Hide Rulers

The rulers can be activated/deactivated in the toolbar via the context menu of the *Rulers* selection button.

* **Ruler 1**: Shows/hides *Ruler 1*. Shows the timestamp for the current position of *Ruler 1* and the associated values of the variables.
* **Ruler 2**: Shows/hides *Ruler 2*. Shows the timestamp for the current position of *Ruler 2* and the associated values of the variables.

Once a ruler is shown, the *Current Control* setting is set to *Standard*! This is necessary so that no side effects occur when moving the rulers. However, this can be changed afterwards! When both rulers are hidden again, the *Current Control* setting is reset.

### Move Ruler Position

You can change the position by clicking on the desired ruler with the left mouse button, holding the mouse button down, and moving it to another location in the diagram window. The process on mobile devices is similar. The only difference is that on mobile devices, touch gestures are used instead of mouse gestures.

When moving rulers, no linear interpolation is applied. This means that only the actual values in the diagram are used. If the ruler is between two explicitly given value points when released, it automatically snaps exactly to the targeted point.

{% hint style="info" %}

* Only measurement variables with numerical values can be inserted into a line chart!
* If a measurement variable cannot be inserted into a line chart, the values of the affected measurement variable will not be displayed in the table next to or below the line chart.
  {% endhint %}

### Y-Axis Scaling with Stacked

If the "Stacked" property is enabled, the Y-axis with stacked series is, by default, *automatically* scaled. You can bypass the automatic scaling of this Y-axis by disabling the "Automatic Y-Axis Scaling (Stacked)" property and then entering a desired value in the following input fields "Max Y-Axis" and "Min Y-Axis". After that, the Y-axis with the stacked series is scaled exactly with the entered min and max values.

To get automatic Y-axis scaling again with active "Stacked", the "Automatic Y-Axis Scaling (Stacked)" property must be disabled again.

```
GET https://docs.videc.de/june5-3.7/en/webanwendung/sichten/diagramme/liniendiagramm-saeule-balken-punkte-etc..md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
